A MESSAGE FROM JCH BOARD PRESIDENT TAMMIE STRAUSE:

Letter from the President
——————————————————————————————————————————
As I stepped into the role of Board President this year I knew I had big shoes to fill—literally and figuratively. There were two goals that had to be met by year-end and one of them was critical.
We needed to get people to the house. We knew that by continued com-munity outreach efforts we would be able to educate the public on the lives of the area’s early settlers, as well as the significance of the building itself. Through many opens houses and other fun, family events, this goal was accomplished. We reached out to and brought in many new people from both within and outside of Mequon-Thiensville.
We spent a considerable amount of time and energy on the issue of the mortgage. But I am thrilled to be able to tell you that this goal was also met. We have refinanced the mortgage without a balloon payment and the mortgage payment has been reduced so that improvements to the house can be made. As such, we are now in a good position to move for-ward with the restoration of the house and begin planning other improve-ments that will certainly enhance our mission of bringing history to life.
I thank the board and our many volunteers for their work this past year. Without them, we would not have been able to meet any of our goals and our future would look much different.
Cheers!
